In order to retrieve Pie Box updates you must use a modified version of the yum client and a subscription key. The subscription key is supplied by email when you purchase one of our subscription options. Combined, the modified version of yum and the subscription key allow us to authenticate connections and monitor use.

The current version of yum that has been modified for use in Pie Box is 2.0.8. If you would like to know more about this modification, please see the FAQ and help sections of this site.

To install Pie Box yum, please follow these steps:

1. Download the RPM^TM by clicking on the appropriate link below and saving it to your local machine:

2. To verify your download, change to the directory where you downloaded the RPM and type:

   /usr/bin/md5sum -b yum-2.0.8-1.piebox.1.noarch.rpm

   Compare the output to the MD5 sum listed above. If they are not identical try the download again.

3. Install the RPM by logging in as root, changing to the RPM's directory and typing:

   /bin/rpm -i yum-2.0.8-1.piebox.1.noarch.rpm

4. Install your subscription key by opening /etc/yum.key in your favourite editor. The file and the email detailing your subscription contain instructions on where to place your key. Further information can be found in the documentation section of this site.
